Overview
Cisco's AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) client that works on a wide variety of operating systems and hardware configurations. For more information about VPNs, see: Virtual Private Network at MIT. The new Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client and service will work under Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. There are also device-specific versions for many common mobile devices such as iPad, iPhone or Android phones.
Note: You must have an active connection to the Internet and an MIT Duo enabled device before proceeding.
Install the Client for Your Platform and Connect to vpn.mit.edu/duo

- Log in to theITS Software Download site.
- Select Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client.
- Click on the appropriate installer for your operating system to download the installer file.
- When the download is complete double-click the .msi installer file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the client.
- After the client is installed, launch the client by going to the Start Menu > All Programs > Cisco folder
- Log in to theITS Software Download site.
- Select Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client.
- Click on the appropriate installer for your operating system to download the installer file.
- When the download is complete double-click the .dmg image file, then Control-Click the .pkg file to install the client and follow the on-screen instructions to install the client.

- Login with your HawkID and HawkID Password
- Find the Cisco AnyConnect client and click install
- After the client is installed, launch the client by going to the Applications > Cisco folder

- Open the Cisco AnyConnect client software
- Enter the server name vpn.uiowa.edu if it is not auto-generated
- Signing in:
- Group: Default
- Username: HawkID
- Password: HawkID Password
- Second Password: Two-Step Login authentication method
- You can enter push, phone, or sms in this field
- If you choose sms, it will say 'Login failed.', to continue, re-enter your HawkID password and enter the first passcode you received via text message in the Second Password field
